Have you ever noticed the tingling sensation rising up from your feet through your body during a barefoot walk on a warm sandy beach or on cool wet grass on a dewy morning?

That revitalized feeling you felt at the end of your walk was the result of electrically conductive contact of your body with the Earth’s surface, a phenomenon also known as grounding. Grounding is direct skin contact with the Earth’s surface. Just like the Earth, your body is mostly water and minerals and both are excellent conductors of electrons. The free electrons pulsating on the Earth’s surface are fed by natural phenomenon like solar radiation, thousands of lightning strikes per minute, and energy generated from the Earth’s inner core. When your skin has direct contact with the Earth’s surface (aka grounding), these negatively charged free electrons are transferred up, into and throughout your body. In fact, this process provides your body with a powerful and abundant supply of antioxidants and free-radical eliminating electrons.

Benefits of Grounding:

Free-radicals are produced by your body when you exercise and when you have inflammation in any area of your body. Free-radicals are molecules with one or more missing electrons and are the biochemical agents that cause oxidation. These free-radicals steal electrons from healthy tissue causing tissue damage and chronic inflammation. Modern science has shown that inflammation is the root to virtually all chronic diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and many other illnesses. According to a study published by the Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences and Applications, 2014, 4, 293-308, forty subjects were either grounded or sham-grounded for at least an hour. During this time, a Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging camera was used to continuously record changes in the subjects facial blood flow non-invasively. “Facial blood flow regulation clearly improved among the grounded- but not the sham-grounded – subjects. The results demonstrate, for the first time, that even one hour contact with the earth restores blood flow regulation to the face suggesting enhanced skin tissue repair and improved facial appearance with possible implications for overall health.”

How to Get Started:

Our planet is alive with natural energies and pulsating frequencies. Grounding is simply making direct contact with the surface of the earth. Grounding includes walking barefoot outdoors, swimming in oceans and lakes, or sleeping, working and relaxing indoors with your bare skin in contact with conductive mats, bed sheets, body bands, and patches so that your body is maintained at the earth’s electrical potential.
